Coronavirus is a newly discovered, viral infectious virus that first infected China. The patients infected with coronavirus experience breathing or respiratory problems and do not recover without proper treatment by a professional doctor. People who already have diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, etc., as well as older people, have higher chances of developing COVID-19. Coronavirus spreads through droplets from sneezing and coughing.

  • Measures have been taken to limit the spread of coronavirus in the US. In the US, the number of coronavirus cases is rising rapidly. Over forty states in the US are being lockdown for limiting the spread of coronavirus. People can only come out of their homes if they have to buy some essential things and in a medical emergency. Health workers, public-safety officials, grocery workers, and other essential workers are exempted from this lockdown.

  • There are approximately four billion people in the world who are advised to stay at home, out of which 90% population is from the US. The drawback of this lockdown is the increase in the unemployment rate, particularly in the labor sector. The schools and colleges remain closed. Some of the schools and colleges are turning into COVID-19 isolation centers. President Donald Trump has released $50 billion to the state government and territories for controlling the spread of coronavirus and treating the disease.

  • The testing of coronavirus is a major part of preventing the spread of the virus. Testing in the US is being done by the CDC (Centre for Disease Control and Prevention). There is a limit to the testing criteria for coronavirus in the US. The ones who are sick will have to test first for coronavirus as compared to the ones who are not ill. In the US, doctors are continuously working on the virus for making drugs or medicines to treat the virus infection. Till now, no coronavirus vaccine and medicine is manufactured by any doctor in the world. The precaution to prevent the disease until now is to stay away from each other, maintain social distancing, and regularly wash your hands for 20 seconds.

  • Things happening in the US due to COVID 19: The US health care services announced a public health emergency due to coronavirus pandemic spread. The main places which became the hotspots of coronavirus in the US are Washington, New York, and Louisiana. The US is one of the worst-hit countries by the coronavirus. The schools, colleges, official private buildings, etc., have been shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak. According to CDC guidelines, the person who is sick and the one who comes in contact with an infected person are only being tested.

  • Shortage of PPE kits: The PPE kit is Personal Protective Equipment for the safety of doctors and health care workers. The US has a shortage of PPE kits, gowns, masks, and ventilators. Health care workers in the US are demanding PPE kits and other things described above. These things are essential for front line health workers for treating COVID 19 patients. As an alternative, health workers are reusing medical equipment, scarves as masks, and gowns made from trash bags.
